FAQ's / Trouble shooting  (PW=PoolWatcher)

1. What is the PoolWatcher Gen2 and what protection does it offer? The PoolWatcher Gen2 is an intelligent, floating alarm system specifically developed to protect against drowning accidents. It monitors the water surface 24/7 and triggers a loud acoustic signal within seconds if someone falls into the water.

2. What should I consider before the first startup? Before using the device, the battery must be fully charged. Additionally, the device should be checked for any transport damage after unpacking.

3. How do I put the PoolWatcher into operation? To wake the device from transport mode or deep sleep, press the silver button for one second. Successful activation is confirmed by the yellow LEDs flashing twice and two signal tones. The device then starts in "Swim Mode" with medium sensitivity.

4. Where is the ideal place for the device in the pool? The PoolWatcher should be placed approximately halfway along the longest side of the pool or pond. It is secured to the edge using the provided cord, leaving a range of motion of about 20 cm from the edge.

5. How does the system distinguish between wind waves and a real emergency? The device uses intelligent sensors and state-of-the-art microprocessors to precisely distinguish harmless movements, such as wind waves, from an actual fall into the water. This significantly reduces the risk of false alarms.

6. For which types of water is the device suitable? The system is highly flexible and suitable for swimming pools, garden ponds, Koi ponds, bio-pools, and even natural lakes. It works independently of the water level and is reliable even in peripheral areas.

7. Is the device safe from being operated by children? Yes, the PoolWatcher Gen2 is designed to be tamper-proof. It has no external on/off switch, which prevents children at play from accidentally turning the device off.

8. How can I ensure the device works correctly in an emergency? You can perform a function test: while in monitoring mode, drop a 10-liter bucket filled with water into the pool from a height of about one meter at the point furthest from the device. The alarm should trigger within a maximum of 25 seconds.

9. How will I be informed about the battery level? The device features an automatic battery control system. A "low battery" warning signals in good time when a battery replacement is necessary to ensure continuous operation.

10. How can I cancel an alarm if it was triggered unintentionally? If an alarm is triggered unintentionally, it can be cancelled at any time by pressing the silver button for approximately four seconds. The device will then automatically return to Swim Mode.

11. Why isn't there an app for controlling the functions of the PW? The PW is designed to be used by anyone at any time, without needing a mobile phone. Furthermore, more technology means a higher risk of errors. And most importantly: the PW is intended to be completely autonomous.

12. The PW doesn't trigger an alarm during the function test. Check if the PW is in alarm mode.

13. The PW is constantly triggering false alarms. Check the sensitivity and reduce it if necessary.

14. Which sensitivity level should I set? Under normal circumstances (light to moderate wind, quiet circulation system) we recommend sensitivity level 2. For indoor pools, you can also use level 3, and level 1 is recommended in strong winds.
